Poetry Of War Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Poetry Of War

Rating: 5.0

I hold my pen ready
To fight for humanity
Every drop of blood spilled
Paints my mood red
Every bullet fired against women and children
Opens a huge wound inside my being
Every article of suffering and pain is a direct stab to my heart
Every life lost paints a dark blot in our collective consciousness
Every voice needs to speak against war
Every good spirited person needs to stand up against terror
Every heart beat needs to beat the drums of peace
I write not because I have words but because I am wounded
I am pierced by the absence of reason, compassion and common sense
I am a part of a world that is disgusted
This war has to stop now
But this war cannot stop now if you are quiet
