Poetry Made Me Realize Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Poetry Made Me Realize

Life is not a medical examination
Screening for pimples and tumors
Dissecting the ailing ligaments of being
Dissolving mental and psychic energies
To produce a healthy spiritual being
Life is a tattoo in a classroom of tolerance
It teaches us both the bad, ugly and beautiful
It serves us the putrid smells of our wicked hearts
Suffocating us with the toxic fumes of our own lips
Life is a solid surface that is sometimes very cold
No matter how much you try to warm your heart
Life keeps on feeding you the icy cold stuff
Puncturing your inner being with its frozen stare
Life is a beautiful place full of ferocious wild animals
In human form, they rip through each other's throats
Whether competing for attention or scrambling for power
Life is a pot of toxic fumes and soothing balms
It can kill you or bind you with bandages made of thorns
Or crown you with a billion carat diamond
Life is a spectacle of beauty and death
Life will feed you musical pearls while staring at you with bloodshot eyes
Life is not a puzzle, it is a maze for us to find our demons and either conquer them or be vanguished forever
Life is a classroom of consciousness
