Poetry Hill Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Poetry Hill

The sun disappeared down over the hill
I remember the evening, 'twas so calm and still,
and poets and songsters from near and afar
gathered together, with violin and guitar.

I read out my poem ~ you read out yours,
the words echoed clearly across the green shores;
your meaning ran deep, and my heart it stood still
when you told of your love there, on Poetry Hill.

Church bells resounded, as midnight drew nigh
and sweet gentle voices filled the north sky...
the evening had ended, with a kiss and a thrill
as we sang Auld Lang Syne upon Poetry Hill.

Poets and songsters were full of good cheer
and would gather again at the same time each year.
