Poetry Poem by James Murdock

Poetry

Unlike other forms of writing,
poetry is not
simply finding the time
to do the work.
Poetry is a deep wound.
It is the voice of God
in a quiet moment.
It is all the stars
leaning in.
When it comes,
it comes.
And you will nearly
run your car in a ditch,
insult a friend by
suddenly ending
a conversation,
spend hours you should be
sleeping
in wide wonder and
complete horror.
When it doesn't come,
it really doesn't.
