Poemhunter Pleasures Poem by Phil Soar

Poemhunter Pleasures

Rating: 5.0

The pleasure of seeing my name on screen
A poem review, a rhyme that's clean
A distant reminder of how well I write
Soothes me to sleep at the end of the night

I can read those opinions and smile to myself
I don't need the books that I keep on the shelf
Just words flowing brightly, on my laptop screen
Look out for the comments, see my face beam

Someone far away might think I am quite skilled
I'm sure all my writing has left me fulfilled
I just wish the moon didn't rule what I say
As I'd like to write my thoughts down every day

The lunar injuctions that limit my mind
Sometimes are a bonus, sometimes they're not kind
To be limited by it's evocative moods
Is like being deprived of my favourite foods

I accept the shortcomings, the moon waxes and wanes
My thoughts (or the lack of them) can drive me insane
Yet just when I think that the words will not come
My New Moon returns, and the writings begun
