Play A Game Poem by Winston T. Gylles

Play A Game

Hey hey hey
let's have some fun with
poetics

Gads, wha'

Let's play who said:
'Marie, Marie! Hold on tight! '

No! How 'bout
'Do not go gentle into that good night'

Close, but no. Try
'The best laid plans of mice and men'

Steinbeck? Close again
But no.

Last one
'If I can stop one heart from breaking'

Too archaic?
Ouch! OK

How 'bout:
'Try to understand, he's a magic man'

Yikes! Das bad, das real poor
But I'z gibe ya an udder chanz

Ready, kk - yea
'The time to hesitate is through'

Iffin ya dawn get dat' one
Imma gonna call ya a bad word

I've got vocabulary ya kno'
As well as
Grammarg

an' I can use them
call you a prophylactic
but hey - Light my fire

So let's do a yewie
not go there
play another round instead -

Do ya' know who said:
'What could she say to the cat with future feet'

That fellow who let the air
out of my mind
'cause i had a swelled head
and was a swell fellow
but nobody
liked me

Recriminations, dang you
all your psychology

'Wrong from the start'
'But I have promises to keep'
'How do I love thee'

Jeepers-creepers
How's that -
All part of inpopular culture

'He saw the shadow of a man
Attempting...'

To stop the devastation
but died or fled reality
stuck his head in the sand
embraced the old ways
rolled right back

there it is
'whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer'
the bab bobo
of ignorance
or just
crash 'n burn
