Picketing Pigeons Poem by Percy Dovetonsils

Picketing Pigeons

Officious, uniformed, pigeons,
marching up and down
in front of City Hall
make this citizen think,
"Why not draft 'em as meter maids?
No more wages, pensions, overtime, or free medical,
just a bit of birdseed.
What a saver for the
city budget!
They can peck and scratch
out the tickets
in record time.

And if they don't want to do their jobs,
well, there's always pigeon pie.

Pigeons have gotten too uppity
.....always picketing,
not to say rioting,
about this and that,
about predatory cats
and urban
peregrine falcons.

Those that won't go to work
can be rounded up
by Trump's anonymous
Homeland Security
zombies
and carted away
to secret aviaries
where subversive, nonwhite,
un American, birds
will be tortured,
waterboarded,
interrogated to death,
made to spill the beans,
to sing like drowning canaries,
by feral, gleefully sadistic, cats
inflicting suffering
in the service
of Attorney-General Barr,
The Legions of the Alt Right,
and Senior Presidential Adviser
Steven Miller.
