Peace And Unity (Generation Of Movers) Poem by Bakare Oluwagbenga Michael

Peace And Unity (Generation Of Movers)

From the North, we heard cries of terror.
From our south came pleadings for justice.
From the West another pleads for justice and equality.
Desolation on the east comes as a result of drought and famine.
A cry for a feel of royalty came from every region.
Yet all we got in response was a tune from the graveyard.

Differences and grudges kept aside;
We matched righteously on Doom's path.
Sticking our delicate noses to sniff the pit of hell.
The battle for change comes with a price.
We are the Generation of movers.
We move with no fear for death or getting hurt.
Louder and louder was our silence getting.
Shattering glasses that shield corruption like the honk of the Pacific.

We've had it, whispered a voice.
Who said that?
Thats my brother, can't let him get hurt.
I did!
Oh! That's my friend.
No, I did.
Oh! That's my partner.
We both did.
Those are our friends!
We also did.
We all did.
Just cruxify us all; or
Give us what we want;
Before our peaceful demands
Will disrupt your luxurious castles.

We screamed in the most disturbing silence.
Even nobles and royalties came to lend us their voices.
We refused to beg.
Neither did we fight to forcefully claim our rights.
But we cried in a most noble way.
Thinking our noble cries will reach their noble ears.
No. It didn't.
Nobility was long gone in their blood.
All that's left is villain.

So they came at us.
As though we have ransoms over our lives.
Spilling our youthful blood on our precious flag.
We neither denounced our pledge to our great Nation Nigeria.
Nor did we cower in fear for our dear lives.
Our loud whispers must have made them panic.
So, they killed to protect their castle of lies.
We lost because of the glorious blood we shed;
Yet we won back our freedom of expression.
We'll leave to come back stronger.
While we tend to our wounded;
And rewrite our plan for a victorious battle.
A battle to attain the climax of our Anthem
PEACE AND UNITY! ! !
