Our Sense Of Self Importance Poem by Francis Duggan

Our Sense Of Self Importance

Rating: 5.0

Our sense of self importance within the mind grows
Into selfishness and one has to suppose
That this is a sense of survival 'twould seem
Self conceit and arrogance does not grow on low self esteem
In the Human World in work, business, sport and life in every way
The battle for status goes on every day
Most people are born with the self centred need
That for to be respected they have to succeed
At what they are good at they want to be best
They have this inborn desire to outperform the rest
From the example set by our not so wise mentors we see life in this way
Success the top brand name in the Human World of today
Too many far too many of self only aware
And sad to say compassionate people are becoming more rare.
