Our Mission Poem by Max Burchett

Our Mission

by Max Burchett

Who is to say,
Which way,
Where or why,
What in this life one should try.

The imperative seems to me
To do something more
Than just to get by carefree.
Must be more we are here for.

Is the purpose to conquer this world?
Could be, but I think not, that's fool's gold.
The quest is perhaps to overcome
For things that are yet to come.

What I hope to find is more
Joy in rising above my own fear
And being closer to those I hold dear,
Perhaps an answer to some prayer.

The answer I believe to be,
For all great and small,
To accomplish, to achieve,
For each the grander goal.

Yes, that must be the mission of all,
To do more than thought possible.
For what each is called, perhaps the improbable,
To do even what you were told is impossible.
