Open My Heart Poem by Natalia Bakina

Open My Heart

Open my heart and find your image there:
My endless desire is tangled in your hair,
It looks like the wind when the clouds are brown,
Like the mists in the halo of the moonlit crown,
The star-jewelled crown that can never be hurled,
It bears the mysteries of the dim world;
The love-tales woven from your hair thread
Are scattered around when you toss your head;
The placid lakes of your eyes are so deep -
All hopes and dreams drown there to sleep;
These eyes draw me into the dark corridor,
I fly through to watch lands unknown before;
I breathe in your sigh and I take up your beat
To follow the ghosts of time as they fleet;
You press your cupped hands upon my trembling breasts
And make two pale birds settle in their nests;
I drink up your lips, feel them dewing my face,
My body’s remoulded upon your embrace,
The incense-heavy embrace of the flood
Pulsing and running as we share the blood;
The ruby-red blood of the flames so old -
They burst when no eyes had been born to behold;
They burnt when the heart of the world gave its flare…
Just open this heart and find your image there.
