On/Off Poem by Simon Chamoun

On/Off

Feels now like I'm effortlessly flying
Soaring high without even trying
While the ground is still hugging my feet

Been imprisoned for quite a while
Poisoned by your lying smile
Stuck on you, in love I had fallen deep

Shattered the bars of your prison cage
Took off till the edge of space
With dreams rather than nightmares, I now sleep

Couldn't call it a waste of time though
For I had really loved you so
Too bad you turned out a betraying creep

You were ever my harshest lesson
Like a switch you played me off/on
Precious you were to me, for you I was cheap
