Only A Dream Of Happiness Poem by Kayla Daley

Only A Dream Of Happiness

Rating: 0.5

I close my eyes and fall into a deep sleep.
Your face takes up my vision,
And when you touch my hand,
Into my skin electric heat does seep.
Faster beats is my heart’s willing decision.
Desire spreads through my veins.
My body automatically leans towards you.
My secret is realized in your eyes,
And instead of flinching away like I expect you to,
You kiss me without any hesitation.
Your lips are warm and wet contradicting the surrounding summer time
that is so hot and dry.
I gasp, shocked to see an intense emotion in your eyes’ reflection.
Your wordless I love you whispers through the wind, bouncing
off the tall pine trees in the sweetest sigh.
I smile.
Misery spreads through me
As I awake, because I know a dream can only last awhile.
Though this is not true, it seems impossible for you to ever love me.
