One Life Poem by Loyd C Taylor Sr

One Life

Hope Women and Infant Hospital
A young woman gives birth
A babe cries and greets the earth

King Richard Elementary School
A child enrolls in K-5
Hope and faith so alive

Ragan Senior High School
No books today, skipped class
In the twilight zone, high on grass

First Christian Church
Passions soar, two hearts in love
Tied the knot before God above

Franklin County Courthouse
Out of anger came a divorce
Children overlooked… of course

City Assisted Care Facility
Cirrhosis of the liver takes its toll
Cannot walk or a wheelchair roll

Pleasant View Cemetery
Placed in a hole six-foot deep
Lies there alone, no one to weep

The Headstone read-
Too soon entered eternity's door
A wasted life ended at forty-four.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
About this poem:
I have heard so many stories of people who had everything going for them and then they lose it all. Some turn to suicide, some become addicted. It is so sad to think of the worth of a life and then to see it wasted.
I hope you enjoy it.
Loyd, the simple poet.
