On The Rocks Poem by Michael DawesSmith

On The Rocks

Underfoot..sharp, black
Cracked bastion
To my right the beach
A yellow talon
Sky poised

My left the cliffs
Broken battered
Slow disaster in stone
Vapoured wave storm
And gravity

Before me the voracious neighbour
Quiet now..
But with deep, unspeakable intent
