On Reading Modern Fantasy Novels Poem by Deborah Loraine Kean

On Reading Modern Fantasy Novels

Comedy, tragedy, farce
That's what it comes to at last
We're giv'n the power to create
We mete out our characters' fate

We do just the same for ourselves
Or for our creatures, the elves,
Faerie, gnomes, dwarves, knights or djinn
They are our creatures, our kin

Yet for us, life's real and earnest
For unlike them, we're the learners
For us, those to whom it is given,
Lies every chance to find Heaven.
