Old Davy Poem by Francis Duggan

Old Davy

Old Davy can't talk of a marvellous life
He gets a hard time from his nagging wife
Though her scorn is something that he seems to fear
It does not deter him from enjoying his beer
With his mates at the pub on a saturday night
And though he is one who never does look for fight
But on sundays he's often seen with a black eye
Ann throws a good punch since the facts never lie
The husband beating wives of the World may seem rare
But then you will not meet one like Ann everywhere
Though he cops the wrath of his angry wife Ann
Old Davy takes his beatings like a true man
And though it is not without reason that her he does fear
She cannot suppress in him his fondness of beer.
