Old Charlie Poem by Dorsey Baker

Old Charlie

Rating: 5.0

Old Charlie as an afterthought
Thought of his life
As a freeway
Where you could go as fast
As you want to
A speeding car
Coming across the finish line

Just around the corner
Might just be another
Side of eternity
Fragments of the fragile
Human being
Like ghost in their appearance
But the soul
It escapes that prison
Of feebleness
Pain and misery
Old Charlie is afraid
That beast is about
To catch up with him
But he will surely
Fight to the death
The beast that comes after youth
Because youth comes first!

Lovely poem. Keep young at heart and remember the mistakes of youth, and learn from them.
