Of Men And Mayflowers Poem by Matt Mooney

Of Men And Mayflowers

Rating: 5.0

On the prom where I laze in the shade
Are walkers and hawkers (in swarms):
A casual pigeon on its routine patrol
On the rocks, white, yellow and crunchy;
A couple barefooted are skimming along
On the prom on this fine summer’s morning.
Walking on water a proud mother to be,
In her two piece, the future ahead of her.
Then a man with a felt hat wearing shorts
On a high spec red motorised wheelchair,
His wife by his side strides on ever vigilant.
My ice cream is melting - I look once again:
This time it’s a young lady of some elegance
Who lifts her dress with its hem of white lace
To quickly shine up her designer sunglasses;
Three ships set to sail out at sea on the skyline.
Near the shore between waves without care
Ping pong is played by two girls in the shallows.
