Odirachukwumma Poem by Ifeyinwa Ezenyimulu

Odirachukwumma

I thought bruises hurt
I did hit my knee on the edge of a cement drainage
Fell on my lips once, playing with Ogee
And that iron that scarred me

When my family and well wishers are sad, I'm
When they hurt, I do,
And I cry when they cry

I thought all these things were hurtful
That they were so painful
I even thought that my heart had been broken before now
Never knew I have been in bliss all these while

I thought if I pulled through one-day
That it will be easier
So I prayed for morning to come

Odira, I am feeling it all
All at once
