Ode To Gina... Poem by RIC BASTASA

SHE SUCCUMBS finally
to brain cancer, erstwhile
she was an idol
for those who want to be
fit and outgoing, and
she prescribes what to eat
and what to do,
less carbo, more veggies,
drink more water, less wine,
exercise, and avoid
stress, and she was admired
for her environmental causes,
admired as a lady who once
young as she was, she already
knew what she wanted to do,
until her death today, and
i am caught agape,
not why she, but why she
kept every hint of death
hidden in her eyes,
in her hands,
and even in her words.
