Object Of Lust, Object Of Scorn Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Object Of Lust, Object Of Scorn

The masculine contradiction - You don't like women but are heterosexual so what to do?
Why do I need to bargain when I've already got your soul?

So the club that offered me membership no longer seemed so appealing
You liked her when her return of affection established self-worth
But once you had enough, the whole scenario filled you with disgust

She spoiled your pre-marriage swinging illusion
She redeemed your male definition from the garbage can
And you hated her for making your life better
And for fastening yourself to your boundless life force
And for not going away when she should

And for lust you put on a clean shirt
But for scorn you took it off
And once she gave you past information
You no longer wanted to be part of her team

Once lust turns into scorn
The view changes, a haze settles on her
You see her as any other human
Flawed and dirty and suspect because she is willing to be with you
