Now That You're Gone Poem by Ozark Mountain Homegrown

Now That You're Gone

Once upon a time.... a long time ago.....I knew a man...
A beautiful man…
A tall, dark and handsome man, who was incredibly charming….
It's been said, that he could charm the fish right out of the water…..
And with just one smile…....
He could charm the girls right out of their clothes….
This is my story, of that man…

Now that you're gone…..
All I have left are these dusty old memories
of those hot summer nights, from so long ago...
Buried somewhere deep, and fading fast
into the abyss of a mind that's now half gone…
There…hidden amongst old songs and lost loves,
lie these blurred visions of misspent youth,
and drug dazed nights, filled with love and angst…..
Memories, almost completely forgotten........
But now... they come bubbling up,
rising back to the surface,
to haunt me once more…...
At that young time in my life,
I spent all my waking moments
just yearning for your touch...
Dreaming about you, night and day
and counting the hours
until I could see you again…
Then finally, breaking free,
I would run eagerly through the darkness,
to meet you at our secret place...
You'd pick me up on your Harley,
tailpipes rumbling and hearts racing….
We'd go riding away, into the night
with the stars at our heads, the wind in our face,
and the moon on our backs….
I wrapped myself around you
and pressed my body close to yours,
while your hand roamed freely,
softly squeezing and tenderly caressing my thigh….
Heading back to your place,
my mind raced with anticipation
so escalated, that I could scarcely breathe….
Just thinking about us being together,
making love all night long,
filled me with ecstasy....
Burdened with a passion so intense
and a fever so hot
that it burned me to my very core…...
But everything was so heavenly,
on that pallet on the floor........
With tangled bodies and tangled minds
we rode those waves of unbridled passion
to the point of break, and then collapse….
Sweating intensely, from the heat of our bodies,
mixed with the unbearable heat
of those hot, sultry summer nights.......
We were on fire... but it was a smoldering fire
that could not easily be extinguished..........
So we just continued on and on,
chasing that relentless...insatiable...hunger...
always....... always....... chasing that hunger.......
But.... as hot as that fire burned........
Never once, in all... that... time...
Was I ever able to quench
my incessant and never ending thirst....
For your passionate, but unrequited love.......
