Nothing Close To Innocent Poem by uder pressure

Nothing Close To Innocent

when you first tasted
you really couldn't taste
it burned all the way down
but you still kept going
till you could no longer
stand or walk in a straight line
everyone says to stay away
but you started young

I remember your wild
parties and when you woke
you realized you could never
really sleep. Then you questioned
where you were and the people
you were with and found
unimportance in the question
because everything was already done

When you went home
acting like the person
your parents wanted you to be
while all the while living
your secret life. You felt best
to keep quiet

with flashing lights
that quiet ended. And when
those men in uniforms
barged in through the front door
you tried to run
little did you know
you did yourself more
harm than good

they questioned you
and the smell of lies
escaped through your lips
they and everyone knew

you admit defeat
as your punishment
was scribbled out
on a thin sheet of paper
