Not The One Poem by Dean Meredith

Not The One

I'm the one
Your mothers warned you about
The one they loved
Before the one who would stay

I'm the one
Your friends say
Is no good for you
But might be ok for them

I'm the one
With all the problems
Maybe even more
Than you

I'm the one
Who would ride a white horse
And save you
If I weren't allergic

I'm the one
Who might commit
All kinds of crimes
Except adultery

I'm the one
Who takes my medicine
In regular small doses
But is never cured

I'm the one
Who is not the one
But just one of many
And happy to be no-one

I'm the one
With something to say
And nowhere to say it
But I do anyway
