Not For Children Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

Not For Children

Rating: 5.0

There is a lion in the forest.
At day he works and at night he takes rest.
He has a lioness, his loyal wife.
She cooks meat for him daily and cuts fruits with a sharp knife.
They have two cubs, who play all day.
and at times to take fresh air run towards the bay.

The lion is a kind king.
The song of democracy he uses to sing.
One day he comments, 'I will stop killing for food.
Fruits and vegetables are plentiful, for health extremely good'.
The lioness utters, 'You are too good and will be remembered by all'.
He thinks for everyone and also plays with his cubs football.

A good king, a good father, a good husband, a good guy he is.
He respects women, who can walk at night with ease.
He maintains his forest- thinks about source of food and natural calamity.
He walks with bare foot as he has no vanity.
The tiger, the deer, the elephant, the monkey...respect him a lot.
The wolf speaks bad from behind- jealousy has made him hot.

The cubs tell. 'Dad teaches us democracy and law.
For others' good it's better to find own flaw.
Lie and violence are biggest enemies of life.
Respect equally your mother and wife.
Fight for justice- use your talent to develop your nation.
Be fearless and honest- with utter kindness fight against harsh situation'.
