Remember about a week ago
When I looked into your eyes
I didn't know if it was true
Or if it was a bunch of lies

I know what it feels like
To have a broken heart
I know the pain it causes you
Because it hurts to fall apart

To go your separate ways
Is the hardest thing of all
Don't run towards the past
You can't destroy the wall

But to look into your eyes
To move on from my ex
Shows that I have courage
To see whose coming next

They stay high school friends
Won't be there in the end
But for you it's a different story
You're more than just a friend

I thought we'd be a couple
I guess I just assumed
But if your not here till the end
My futures already doomed

But whether were a couple
Or if you're just a friend
No matter what we go through
You'll be here till the end

You know about Carl
You know about last year
But something you do not know
Is I still stand in fear

I still remember the times
He lied right to my face
Some of those moments are haunting
And some I will embrace

In order for me to ever date
You must do as I say
Tell me the words that follow
Say them in that way

Tell me that you like me
Say that it is true
Tell me i'm so different
And i'm the girl for you

Tell me you won't hurt me
Say i'm something you will hold
Say these things with honor
Show me that you're bold

There's one more thing I need
The most important of them all
So I make sure I don't get broken
So I know that I won't fall

I need you to promise me this
As you look me in my eyes
Say last year is over
And there are no more lies
