No Human Beings Were Harmed During The Making Of This Film Poem by Raj Dronamraju

No Human Beings Were Harmed During The Making Of This Film

It took me a long time to learn to make excuses
To proceed in the pattern of fearless request
Reality superimposed and consequence free
Surprise, surprise, hurting other people doesn't come from this
They know enough from direct speech to either avoid you or embrace you

Table for two or more set for immaculate fiends
Self-confidence, a sharp wit, and effortless charm are useless now
Like spitballs, they make contact then bounce off
It took a long time to come up with measured worth

This is a very surface reading of humanity
She's an institution, she should be institutionalized
Snapdragon comeuppance for the tart-tongued
Everyone who has harmed you eventually comes back to you in a begging posture

It took a long time to figure out humanity was not proportionate
And does not automatically offset bad people with good
A negative exchange I now see as flat and not connected with any preexisting or corresponding harm caused by me to anyone else
