No Answer Poem by Steven Webster

No Answer

Comin' on like an itch
I gonna, an itch I'm gonna
Have to scratch it
Wanna be like a safety net
Or life preserver maybe?
Look at me and the weight I'm gonna
Weight I'm gonna have to carry
Pushing up against this hundred
Billion dollar baby
I know it's crazy

Plug your ears to the voices
No one here who rejoices
Nobody can help you ‘cause
Nobody don't give a damn
Faceless men paint your eyes on
Traceless with your disguise on
Nobody can help you ‘cause
Nobody don't give a damn

No one does answer
No one does answer
Throw me a lifeline
‘cause I'm feeling like
I'm going under
No one does answer
No one does answer
Breaking the shackles
That I forged for myself
And I don't know why
I don't know why

Breakin' up like a beacon sounding
Pounding out its warning signal
Half-led like a riverbed's spread
With waters rushing headlong
I can make like make believe
And feign something I have to say here
I can make like make believe
And sing a faceless love song
Faceless love song
While you all sing along

And if I call and if I shout
Look to the sky and scream it out
I need a way, I need an out
And I can't take it anymore
And I can't take it anymore

And if I covet the things I've seen
It's meaningless to paint it green
It's not for real it's just a dream
And I can't take it anymore
I can't take it anymore
I can't take it anymore
