Nine Lives? Poem by Andy Brookes

Nine Lives?

we swerve missing her
cat looks remorseful
no, detecting a sneaky grin

hunter hunted
she flexes muscles
then sits
to leisurely wash paws

you, she seems to say,
have to be quicker.
sniggering nine lives intact

perennial boarder
broken stems
lie tyre smashed

she glares
not my fault
metaphorically shrugging
she saunters off.
