Nights Like These Poem by Daniel Karbon

Nights Like These

Its times like these its nights like these when I'm feeling suicidal I'm sure glad I haven't gone and bought myself a rifle but instead I bought some cigarettes at nine dollars a pack just to try and show off I guess as the night is getting black as the night is getting black oh lord while the night is getting black another pack of cigarettes as the night is getting black we stop and stare we duck and run from cars they call police 1800911 the numbers of the beast millions past and millions more washed up like lifeboats on the shore play to win and kill to score millions past and millions more counting stoplights cleaning knives having daughters having wives loving softly wasting wine being good and being fine being good and being fine and knocked out cold and running blind the whole damn garden not one straight line and not one candle in this whole damn shrine still being good and being fine still being good and being fine.
