Night Wonders Poem by Mozafar Ali

Night Wonders

As I lay in bed,
My sight locked on the sky,
I count the endless seconds that go by,
Wondering if you’re doing the same,
Feeling the dark pain of love,
Carving your initials with the stars above.

The night got me afraid,
Making it painful to sleep,
You just in my mind a thought I’m into too deep,
I puff and punch this pillow,
To set it to the same softness as your chest,
For that was where I used to rest my head.

For you were my arms,
Your ultimate protector,
This would shield you from the evil eye,
You knew you was safe when I was close by,
So here I lay now, alone!

Tears leave my eyes,
In my hands our unfulfilled dreams,
For my mistakes I feel truly at shame,
But still as a lay and reminisce,
I wonder if she is doing the same!
