Night Memories Poem by William Kofoed

Night Memories

At the end of day

When all is done

Save the last act

The last duty of day

One that I fear

And would not do

Sleep must be had

And too often dreams

Dreams that

Consume the thoughts of day

Fearing the memories

Fearing what is inside

Surely it isn't me

The man of the night

Who acts are sick

Filling me with horror

I would never do

It cannot be me

I would never sleep

I would never dream

Then I would not be filled

With memories from the night
