Night Flight Dreaming Poem by Anthony Burge

Night Flight Dreaming

Awakened sudden, fright

night falling, mid flight

Plunging, stark, void dark

jolted conscious with a start

Tranquil, immersed, falling gently

well versed, evidently

Fall again this time asleep

gently floating on the neap
.
Slow motion, in flight

Indian Ink, Ocean kite

Tumble turning on a whim

limbs splayed against the wind

Dreaming in a liquid sky

swimming fluidly I fly

Playful porpoise twixt the stars

above the noblemen and tsars

Silent view through feathered clouds

familiar ground, familiar crowds

Cart wheeling through navy night

across red rooftops graceful flight

My liquid sky ignites a trail of tiny silver sparks

as bioluminescent flares are triggered in the dark

Tracking fingertips in flight

a sea of night washed plankton bright

On a gentle whispered breeze, eyes shut wide

empty mind with increased ease I glide

Stark bark interrupts my tranquil flight at sea

becalming dark gentle night promptly released me

Awake awake, awakened

stirred gently not but shaken

Quilted landing back to earth

to barking dog and crashing surf

Euphoric sense post flight intense

sliver of light spills in through vents

Return journey booked in advance fly out tonight on slumbered trance
