Newspaper Poem by Quintin Bouillon

Newspaper

"2 teens dead in fatal car crash."
Is the headline of the paper today.
Underneath that, "Fire leaves family homeless."
And, "Earthquake kills thousands."

With so much tragedy in the world
It's good to know you survive.
The pain and suffering that other's suffer for us,
Our shield of the outside world, taking the blow
Before it reaches us.

Still one will always think what if the roles were changes
And we were the ones as the shield.
Would you do it to save the lives of others?
Or leave them behind and alone.
Like they have been all their lives.
