New Years Poem by Haruna Garba

New Years

To keep pace with the planet
You must have her all stacked
To make head about its cycle
You must have her all tethered
To commemorate and hope
You must have her all leashed

Whether by the moon or sun
Really you must her all bounded
Physical or something imaginary
Like a yo-yo a planet needs thread

But withit all falling to a sole sort
The occasion is oddly observed
If this is a year as well as that
Then Algebra is utterly maimed
