Nemesis Of Pride Poem by John Sensele

Nemesis Of Pride

Nemesis of pride falls flat on its face
Sunken in a miasma of sweat
Pouring within and on a surface
As observers for consequences wait.

Nemesis of pride topple from a pedestal
On which the arrogant akimbo
They stand as their fall
Brandish a defeat symbol.

Nemesis, Nemesis, Nemesis
Pride strides forth to strut its stuff
On a stage where a crisis
Brews and regurgitates snuff.

Nemesis of pride topples
Crushing pride like Humpty Dumpty
In shards and foibles
Whose cry and sigh sound empty.
