Necessity Poem by Sandra Feldman

I need some Poetry tonight,
To help me carry out
The deep fight of survival,
Not in ways belligerent or tribal,
But more so to distinguish
History's great arrivals,
Those treasures that thru Art,
Have paved the way for Civilization's
Truly great idols.

I need some Poetry tonight
So that in my desperate furor
I not forget that Love
Is a surer bet than Hate,
So that I remember that human fate,
Is in the hands of the torch bearers
That can illuminate creative paths
That befriend all creators,
So that I can believe that life
Is not always sad
But sometimes lies silently clad
In the somber caves of the past
Waiting for some talented soul
To perhaps discover,
The hidden meaning of it All.
