Nataraja- the Majestic Yogi,
Seated with calm serenity in meditation,
Unmoved by the crescent moon peeping out of the knotted hair,
Or the stars sparkling with breathtaking brightness,
Unperturbed by the Cobra curled round his neck,
Or the beautiful Ganga!
Playing hide and seek behind His thick locks,
Vigil, alert, yet unaffected by the luminous diamond jewellery,
Or the Tiger skin, the tight fitting breaches or even the cassia leaves!
Nataraja -The Cosmic Wonder
Danced the twilight dance in Kailasa
With the divine chorus and an assembly of Gods
All gathered round Him in great excitement!
The Mother of the three worlds dazzling with precious gems
Sat on a golden throne as the chief guest,
To witness the cosmic dance of wonder!
Saraswati played the Veena, Lakshmi sang sweetly,
Indra played the flute, while Vishnu played the drums!
Nataraja - The Magnificent Creator,
The cycle of evolution, sustenance, dissolution,
The rhythm maker of the magical sound!
Reverberating with measured accuracy!
The heartbeat so vital for a life's existence,
The rhythmic beat so essential for a dancer!
Why this rhythmic dance and the awesome postures?
Is it just for thrill of the cognitive or conative pleasures?
Or just for the merriment of an exciting moment? Just ponder!
The inscription on Nataraja -the Cosmic Wonder who dances the twilight dance in Kailasa with the divine chorus and an assembly of Gods has been so touchingly and amazingly delineated. Beautiful poem.10
The portrayal of Lord Shiva or the Nataraja has been done quite meticulously in line with our ancient classical literature as well as His popular image that has travelled through generations. The poem also details of His role in 'The cycle of evolution, sustenance, dissolution.... so vital for a life's existence...'. You deserve a big 'Thank You' for creating this poetic marvel. The heartbeat
