My Stronghold Poem by Romeo D. Matshaba

My Stronghold

The Lord, my only stronghold
no earthly flames, or hellish blaze can wound my body
no sea to render me lost in infinite blue, to drown me... or cold me
no sea monsters, or pythons can devour me
no jailers can chain me and sit me in silent darkness
for the Lord is my stronghold
my stronghold for days nights and twilight's of all my being
my stronghold when I forget Him, sin against Him
my stronghold when I disappoint him or loose my faith
my stronghold in laughter of my mouth and sorrow of my eyes
The Lord, is still my stronghold
when all who stood with me are now against me and all I have is gone
when the shadow follows me knowing I am done and spent and left for die
when i thought alone talk alone walk alone to sing sad songs and say sad tales
when i am lost, drunk and cannot find my way
The lord, my constant stronghold
He blesses my soul with good things
He blesses my life with good things
he blesses me with only good things
He keeps all his promises and walks with me
He hears me from heaven and answers me from heaven
The Lord, my only stronghold
no earthly trouble can trouble me, even when I hide my face in shame from Thee
no enemy to defeat me even when i have forgotten Thee
no lion or bear or fish can tear me apart, even when I deny Thee as my Lord
My one true God.
