My Snow Poem by Josephine J.W

My Snow

Such luxury had become a memory,
World covered in a carpet of silver splendour,
My groggy morning turned to dreamy,
The shimmer of frosty carpet everywhere.

The evergreens and elms alike,
Withered and feathered arms bequeathed,
The flowing tresses of the willow,
Droplets of silver leave them steeped.

My breath lies frozen in the crisp of air,
Birds peck courageously at their icy bath,
Squirrels scampering from their cozy lair,
Excited twitter meets excited chatter.

It seems a sacriledge to tramp,
With heavy boots and lightened heart,
Over this carpet of frost and purity,
Yet over drift and ice I dance.
