My Sleepless Night, Oleander Poem by Dr.Ratan Bhattacharjee

My Sleepless Night, Oleander

Yesternight was all sleepless for me
I uncreated myself, I never felt so unhappy
Desert straightway entered my garden
Sickness overtook Oleander all on a sudden
At dawn Oleander could not bloom
My azure firmament was o'ertaken by gloom
Oleander left for me an aching space
Ennui on her eye and fatigue writ large on my face
I walked all alone crossing many a milepost
Why I miss you Oleander when I need you most!

Solitary midnight beach and the wavy ocean
Where are your promises of resurrection
You told I will never die in the gloomy twilight
Silence of sleep returned to me at what night
It might be Three o clock in the dawn
Golden Oleander bloomed in my vision
Of your love those days how much I did boast
Why I missed you Oleander when I needed you most?
