My Platonic Love Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

My Platonic Love

Darting millions of needles on my face
What is yonder Khyber Pass?
Naked face, naked eye, a trek ahead
A search party - only a single member squad.
A solo pilot in Albatrose D.V.
Went over the deserts of Sahara and Arctic
I followed the trails of Dias de Pineda,
through the Amazon to El Dorado.
All except a memory lit-Under a candle
light-decades ago.
The destined destination
Finding my Femina Daza,
Burning love's impatience
still illuminates in frostiest nights
I felt like in Solomon's Journey
Finding Sheba or vice versa.
The Path long and wrinkles on my face
Life's quota is short and feeble
My communication pod - frozen to death
Heavy boots clad when soldiers march
Whistling ducks shrilled their cries
Where did I leave you?
My love!
I've come to carve you an epitaph
for my platonic love.
