My Name Poem by Paul Warren

My Name

Rating: 5.0

It's just a set of words that I own
One that should be mine alone
But they are just words
That were given early when birth occurred

They labeled me at that time
It was the first thing that was mine
And one of the first words I recognised
So they became as I was described

I answer to these names
And as the years go by build some fame
So one day at the preordained time
They'll write them in stone above me being kind.

But your poems will live on, John Keats felt the same and felt his name written on water yet he became a household name for centuries.
