My Little Friends, Birds! ! Poem by Veeraiyah Subbulakshmi

My Little Friends, Birds! !

Rating: 5.0

Before they come with their case,
please fly away far with ease,
it is a matter of days, chirping birds,
please fly away far with ease.

Once the machine's hands shake your home,
O my colorful birds, you will be scared,
where can you go in the deserted jungle,
The Gods may show you the new homes.

Your home may be in the mango trees,
where the kennel locks the Rott and Terry,
when they are out for the midnight party,
Be focused not to make a song to their fury,

You may have the home at the top of the high rise,
The nails are there to pierce your soft claws,
Please do not go for the ready made food displayed,
where can you go to lay and rise your chicks?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
even after lots of protest, the property in front of my house, which was full of tropical trees, animals and birds, is being cleared to Build the prestigious Mall and office towers. All my nature poems were based on the personal experience with the forest and its inhabitants...It is very sickening to hear their screeching noise while the trees are uprooted.
It should be made mandatory for the developers to relocate the animals, before they clear the forests for the new development..
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Razing of the nature has become a hobby for the so called modern people who in their pursuit of wealth and more wealth forget their sacred duty of preserving bountiful nature and ecological balance. This poem must have been penned after experiencing lot of pain by the said developments. The appeal made to birds to fly on their own before onslaught of the tormentors is superb. Regards.10.

Birds, animal, trees, forest or nature are our main properties. These oughtn't be destroyed. A heart touching depiction you have made in this poem so nicely and wisely. It is not only an intensive poem but also a didactic poem. Many thanks.....10
