My Immortality Poem by michael Smajda

If you are striving for immortality,
I'm not a good example of its fame.
Immortality belongs to certain people
Who, truly, deserve its prestigious name.

Like writers whose words are never forgotten,
Like scientists who are always finding cures
And like celebrities throughout the world
Are assured their achievements for posterity endures.

If you're still looking for immortality,
Don't waste your time looking my way.
I haven't done anything, yet, to warrant it
Or do I expect to even after today.
