My Friend Poem by Lydia Thacker

My Friend

Rating: 5.0

My song for you would speak volumes
if I could bring myself to pen
the words you cause my heart
to sing. A million words and then-

The chorus, it would make me twirl,
my throat singing the sky,
the blossoming flowers outside my door,
the happy tears you make me cry.

The second verse, as long as the first,
but slower and more true,
would tell of the ease you've brought my heart
through this friendship I've found with you.

I'd give you my song as I'd give myself,
asking nothing in return
but hoping you'll share even a line of your song
so that with it I might learn

to sing with you, in harmony,
this melody to blend,
a twining vine made with our hearts
before my song's been penned.
