My Father Away From Home Poem by vince gullaci

My Father Away From Home

Rating: 5.0

T still smell
the pervasive urine
in my sleep
the old nursing home
of lost teeth
and too much sleep
the seeping sores
that never heal
an ignominious end
to a valiant life
of silent courage.

This is a wonderful poem to talk about the aging. IT hits close to me because I used to work in a nursing home myself. It is hard to see parents and love ones having to be cared for. There is a silent courage that resonates in their eyes. This is a wonderful read in my opinion.
