My Eyes Aflame Poem by Heath Harrington

My Eyes Aflame

On A sweltering August night
with mother Moon as our light
I wished on a shooting star
somewhere above where we are
forever stuck between here and there
on this night beautiful and clear.
When my eyes blaze aflame
as promise of the future came
in a lucid prophetic dream
filling my brain like purple steam.

A future where our hair is gray
one in which you would stay
by my side smiling with me.
I wish you could clearly see
us rocking in chairs on the front porch
my eyes aflame, a passionate torch.
In the end my friend there will be peace
as we rock until life's great release.
