My Dream Country Poem by Ekwueme Kelechi

My Dream Country

Awake! Thou country
To the heart of thy bride
"An ocean of peace to the sons of thy womb"
Grant unto us
Like that which took pride
In Prospero's Island

"Kizzy gave a hug to Lizzy
They walk with yoked hands and heart"
Perfume on us this
We pray thee
Conduct the demise of disunity and her wings

Let strength take the diverse ways of our skins
To the altar
For our Tower of Babel to stand gay
And thy fruits stand at the acme of various vineyards

"Religion whispers to Religion
Joy sings and suns all around
Excellence runs in our blood
I pride in mine
Best knows us
Even our throne", John to me

Oh! Be said of these
My dream country
